Ultra High Modulus Carbon Integrated Mast

The North Ultra High Modulus Carbon Mast is engineered to lift onto foil fast and stay there. Ultra low-drag for longer glide, quicker turns and a smoother ride feel, with more runtime from every battery charge. It is 25% thinner with a 14% shorter chord length than the AF80 FD Mast, reducing drag and improving manoeuvrability. This allows faster foil take offs and smoother, more efficient glide once airborne.

Featuring a state-of-the-art monocoque design, the high power motor is seamlessly integrated 18 cm from the baseplate, perfectly balanced for optimal propulsion while keeping the propeller high enough to avoid interference when foiling. At 80 cm ride height, it’s ideal for assisted prone surf, downwind foiling, and extended rides with minimal battery consumption.

NORTH have integrated a recessed super-trench with DropBox mounting track in the Boost sizes 4’9 to 5’3. This lowers drag by nesting the Foil Drive unit within the board’s hull, allowing water to flow freely and saving motor energy, for a longer runtime from every battery charge. The generous trench size also enables quick battery swaps without removing the unit. Placing the battery weight closer to your feet enhances stability and control, and improves carving, pumping, and wave-riding performance.

Specifications of the Masts

The North Integrated Mast Range includes two premium options: the UHM80 Carbon Mast and the AF80 Aluminium Mast, each engineered for a seamless Foil Drive experience.

The UHM80 Carbon Mast provides a fixed 80 cm ride height with the High Power Motor integrated 18 cm from the baseplate. Built from ultra-high modulus carbon, it offers outstanding stiffness, reduced drag, and an exceptionally smooth, efficient ride.

The AF80 Aluminium Mast is constructed from anodised aeronautical-grade aluminium and includes a pre-installed High Power Motor mounted at the rider’s chosen height. It is available in three configurations: E-Foil, where the motor sits near the fuselage for maximum thrust, and 20 cm or 15 cm Assist positions, which place the motor closer to the board for a lighter, more responsive feel.

Both masts feature fully internal wiring for clean installation and minimal drag, allowing uninterrupted performance whether powered or unpowered. The AF80 also includes North’s GeoLock tapered geometry system, which provides a secure, load-bearing connection between the mast and fuselage for maximum strength and stiffness.

Each mast is compatible with the North Sonar Carbon and Alloy fuselage systems, offering riders a refined, integrated setup that balances strength, efficiency, and versatility.

Can the Motor be Moved?

Foil Drive Integrated Masts cannot be altered. This means that once the motor is in position, you cannot change where it is placed. You can order a Foil Drive without an Integrated Mast if you wish to do this, or opt for two different Integrated Mast setups.
